Sweeping the City

Beijing is certainly a dry and dusty city this time of year - the only precipitation in the two weeks we have been here was the brief snow flurries last weekend. But an impressive effort is put into keeping at least the main streets dust and litter free. On the BNU campus there are little sweeping trucks that trundle around the streets, and a large brigade of sweepers on bicycles armed with brushes and besoms for the smaller corners.
